Tax Collection

The Antwerp Township Treasurer, Bonnie Osborne or a bonded Township Employee, will be available to collect taxes at the Antwerp Township Office, 24821 Front Avenue, Mattawan. Office hours are Monday - Thursday 7:00 -11:30 AM & 12:00 -5:00 PM, closed Fridays. If you are requesting tax bill amounts or payment information all data is available following the link below (note: payments made at Van Buren County Treasurer's Office will NOT be posted on this website):

Important Tax Dates

1. Summer Taxes are mailed at the end of June and are due in September
2. Winter Taxes are mailed at the end of November and are due in February
3. Personal Property Taxes must be paid by February 14

When paying by mail be sure to enclose the bottom portion of your tax bill with your check or money order payable to Antwerp Township Treasurer.

After February all unpaid real estate taxes are delinquent.

IF YOUR TAXES ARE, OR HAVE BEEN, DELINQUENT BEYOND MARCH 2 ON A YEARLY BASIS, THIS INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT TO YOU.
Public Act 123 of 1999 shortens the amount of time property owners have to pay their delinquent taxes before losing their property. Property owners with taxes that are two years delinquent will be foreclosed and the property will be sold at public auction. For example, people who fail to pay their 2006 delinquent property taxes will lose their property to foreclosure in March, 2009.
With this new act, the amount of time to pay taxes has been reduced from approximately five years to approximately two years. Property owners will also face higher interest and fees for their delinquent tax bills. More information is available by contacting the Van Buren County Treasurer's office at (269) 657-8228.
